About
State Fair Park hosts a weekend of sprint boat racing on its permanent course, a 3-foot-deep, 20-foot-wide water channel winding through a series of islands. Two-person teams of driver and navigator pilot 500 to 1,500 horsepower jet boats through a memorized rotation, racing against the clock. Saturday is a full day of qualifying, and Sunday brings elimination rounds and finals. Spectators watch from terraced grass berms, bleachers, and VIP viewing areas behind safety fencing.
