Annual Powwow with Yakima Valley College at Kaminski Conference Center in Yakima

Drum groups, dance competitions, and Native artisan vendors fill YVC's annual powwow.

About

Yakima Valley College hosts its annual powwow in celebration of Native American Heritage Month, opening with a grand entry and presentation of flags by the Yakama Warriors Association. Drum groups Big River, Southern Valley, and North Hill perform, with a special performance by the Aztec dance group Ceatl Tonalli. The afternoon includes ceremonies honoring veterans and missing and murdered Indigenous people, dance competitions, a resource fair with student clubs and tribal and community partners, a silent auction benefiting the Tiin-Ma Club, door prizes, and more than 20 food and Native craft vendors offering beadwork, ribbon shirts and skirts, moccasins, jewelry, regalia, and more.
